Rostechnadzor delegation completed its work within the 65th Session of IAEA General Conference


On September 22, at the 65th Annual Regular Session of the IAEA General Conference on September 22, Alexey Ferapontov, Deputy Chairman of Rostechnadzor, took part in a working meeting with Yeafesh Osman, Minister of Science and Technology of Bangladesh. The parties discussed the progress of construction and installation activities at the Rooppur NPP site in Bangladesh, issues of safety supervision during the construction of the nuclear power plant and licensing activities.

On the same day, the event on the IAEA platform regarding small modular reactors and their applications was held which was devoted to coordinated support to IAEA Member States for the development of small modular reactors and oversight of their safety in case of their short-term deployment/

Besides, Alexey Ferapontov took part in the event of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom on the "Proryv Project”. Participants were acquainted with a new technological platform for nuclear power, the goal of which is to replace thermal nuclear reactors, achieve a fundamentally new efficiency of nuclear power through the development, creation and industrial application of a closed nuclear fuel cycle based on fast reactors.

The members of the Rostechnadzor delegation also took part in the plenary meeting of the Global Nuclear Safety and Security Network, the Senior Regulators’ meeting and the plenary meeting of the Regulatory Cooperation Forum under the auspices of the IAEA.

The IAEA General Conference will complete its work on September 24.
