Rostechnadzor Took Part in the 48th Meeting of IAEA Commission on Safety Standards


The 48th meeting of the IAEA Commission on Safety Standards (CSS) was held on November 17 and 19, 2020 in the format of video conference. Rostechnadzor Deputy Chairman Alexey Ferapontov, the CSS standing member for the Russian Federation, took part in the meeting.

In line with the agenda, the CSS members approved the draft publications and document preparation profiles presented by the relevant committees. In addition, the achievements of the sixth term CSS activities from 2016 to 2019 were highlighted and recommendations for the new seventh CSS term were approved.

During the special session dedicated to COVID-19 pandemic, participants exchanged information related to COVID-19 pandemic influence on regulatory activities.

The next CSS meeting is scheduled for April 2021.

The IAEA CSS is a standing body of senior officials from the national regulatory agencies whose competence covers development and introduction of documents on nuclear and radiological safety, safe transportation and waste treatment. The CSS meetings are held biannually.
