Online Conference “Peaceful Atom in Belarus – Benefits and Prospects”
On July 22, 2020, an online conference “Peaceful Atom in Belarus – Benefits and Prospects” was held. It was organized by the Center for the Study of Integration Prospects. The event was attended by Alexei Kubrin, Deputy State Secretary of the Union State, representatives of ministries, embassies, institutes, universities, and scientific institutions of Russia and Belarus.
The conference discussed cooperation between Russia and Belarus in the field of the use of atomic energy, strengthening the role of Belarus in the energy system of the post-Soviet territory, and social and political aspect of the implementation of the Belarusian NPP project.
At the organizers’ invitation, Alexander Khamaza, Ph.D., Director of SEC NRS, and Vice President of ETSON, took part in the online conference and informed the participants about the activities of SEC NRS as a technical support organization of the Russian state body for regulation of nuclear and radiation safety, and about interaction with the organizations of the Republic of Belarus in the framework of the implementation of the agreement between Rostechnadzor and Gosatomnadzor on cooperation in the field of regulation of nuclear and radiation safety in the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes.
