Rostechnadzor Took Part in the 47th Meeting of IAEA Commission on Safety Standards


The 47th meeting of the IAEA Commission on Safety Standards (CSS) was held on June 4 2020 in the format of video conference. Deputy Rostechnadzor Chairman Alexey Ferapontov, the CSS standing member for the Russian Federation, took part in the meeting.
In line with the agenda, the CSS members approved the draft publications and document preparation profiles presented by the relevant committees. The IAEA Secretariat announced a draft of a work plan on the review and strengthening of the safety standards and nuclear security guidance in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic, realization of which is expected to be in two stages.
During the special session, Alexey Ferapontov briefly reported on the measures taken by Rostechnadzor in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The next CSS meeting is scheduled for November 2020.
The IAEA CSS is a standing body of senior officials from the national regulatory agencies whose competence covers development and introduction of documents on nuclear and radiological safety, safe transportation and waste treatment. The CSS meetings are held biannually.
