Bilateral meeting between Rostechnadzor and National Nuclear Security Administration of US DOE took place in Moscow


On 15 March 2016, the US delegation led by David Huizenga, Principal Assistant Deputy Administrator for defense nuclear nonproliferation of the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) visited Rostechnadzor with a purpose to take part in a meeting with Deputy Chairman Alexey Ferapontov.

IMG_1504.JPGThe main objective of the meeting was to discuss issues of cooperation in safety regulation of the accounting, control and physical protection of nuclear materials.

The parties exchanged their views on the current status of the bilateral cooperation in various aspects of nuclear security regulation including development of regulatory documents, inspectors’ training, inspection measurements and radiological threat reduction.

Cooperation between Rostechnadzor and NNSA is based on the provisions of the Protocol signed 14 June 2013 between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the United States of America to the Framework Agreement on Multilateral Nuclear Environmental Programme in the Russian Federation of 21 March 2003.
