STUK took part in inspection of Leningrad NPP-2 construction


In accordance with the program of bilateral cooperation between Rostechnadzor and STUK for 2015, representatives of Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland, on 16-17 September 2015, took part as observers in inspection of Leningrad NPP-2 units under construction. The inspection is conducted by North European Interregional Territorial Department for Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision of Rostechnadzor.

image2.JPGDuring the visit a meeting was held between STUK delegation and director of operating Leningrad NPP, V. Pereguda, and director of Leningrad NPP-2 under construction, Y. Galanchuk. In course of the meeting director of Leningrad NPP-2 has presented details on progress of construction of new power units. Specifically, he stated that according to amendments to the Russian Nuclear Energy Development Program a grid connection of Leningrad NPP-2 is planned for 2018.n 16-17 September 2015, STUK specialists visited Leningrad NPP-2 construction site and observed actions of Rostechnadzor inspector while he examined working documentation and checked a quality of pipeline installation and welding performed by the general contractor OJSC Titan-2. STUK delegation has also visited a turbine building of the plant.

The parties agreed to continue the exchange of information on issues of NPPs’ construction supervision in the format of equal inspections.
