Delegation of Rostechnadzor headed by A. Ferapontov visited the site of the Belarusian NPP under construction

On 1 July 2015, in Minsk, Belarus, a delegation of Rostechnadzor, headed by Deputy Chairman of the Service, A. Ferapontov, held a working meeting with the management of the Department for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus (Gosatomnadzor of the Republic of Belarus) and visited the site of Belarusian NPP (Grodno Oblast, the city of Astravyets) in accordance with the tentative arrangements.

During the meeting, the parties summed up interim results of the interagency cooperation and discussed further plans for its development. In particular, the parties agreed to continue practical exchange of supervisory experience during NPP construction (participation of Rostechnadzor’s representatives as observing consultants in inspections carried out at the Belarusian NPP, and Belarusian experts as observers in inspections of Rostechnadzor at NPPs in Russia).

Rostechnadzor cooperates with Gosatomnadzor of the Republic of Belarus on the basis of the Interagency Agreement with the Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus on cooperation in the field of nuclear and radiation safety regulation in peaceful use of atomic energy, signed 20 December 2013 in Minsk.

Pursuant to the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in construction of NPP, signed on March 11, 2011, two power units of Belorussian NPP (AES-2006 design) of 1,200 MW total rated capacity each are under construction now.
