Rostechnadzor took part in 36th meeting of the IAEA Commission on Safety Standards


On 3-5 November 2014 in Vienna, Austria, 36th meeting of the IAEA Commission on Safety Standards (CSS) was attended by the delegation of Rostechnadzor headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Service, Alexey Ferapontov, who is now a CSS member on a regular basis.

Hearings were given to reports of the Chairs of Committees on Safety Standards: Waste Safety Standards Committee (WASSC), Radiation Safety Standards Committee (RASSC), Transport Safety Standards Committee (TRANSSC), Nuclear Safety Standards Committee (NUSSC) and Nuclear Security Guidance Committee (NSGC) about the activity of the said committees in the accounting period.

Also, information was provided on results of the activity concerning the revision of the IAEA safety standards in the light of Fukushima Daiichi NPP’s accident, and plans to carry on with this activity were mapped out.

In accordance with the meeting agenda, the participants approved the draft safety standards and proposed document preparation profiles presented by respective committees. Also they gave hearing to reports of representatives of Brazilian and Argentinean regulators regarding use of the IAEA safety standards in development of their national regulations.

The next CSS meeting is to take place on 20-22 April 2015.
