Chairman of Rostechnadzor Alexey Aleshin hold a meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart Vuong Huu Tan.

On August 18, 2014, a meeting between Chairman of Rostechnadzor Alexey Aleshin and Director General of Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS) Vuong Huu Tan heading the delegation of Vietnam, which arrived at Rostechnadzor on a scientific visit, was held in Rostechnadzor.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged information on current status in the field of nuclear and radiological safety regulation in both countries. Mr. Aleshin provided information on changes introduced to the Russian legislation that took place over the last 2 years and touch upon safety regulation in atomic energy use.

Also, the Vietnamese party was made aware of information about the nuclear security supervision system at nuclear facilities. Representatives of FBU “SEC NRS” and FSUE VO “Safety” delivered presentations on origins and core areas of activity of the technical support organizations of Rostechnadzor.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed Rostechnadzor’s specialists to conduct a workshop on exchange of experience in the field of safety review in course of licensing of NPP siting and construction. The workshop is planned to be held in Hanoi during the week of September 8, 2014.

The scientific visit of the Vietnamese delegation, being a part of the IAEA Technical Cooperation Program, lasted until August 22, 2014. The primary objective of the visit was to familiarize the Vietnamese representatives with experience of Rostechnadzor in carrying out of supervision activities during NPP construction and operation. Visiting of Don Interregional Territorial Department for Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision of Rostechnadzor (Don ITD) and the site of Novovoronezh NPP-2 under construction were organized for the delegation for the above mentioned purposes.

On August 22, 2014, Rostechnadzor hosted a meeting between State-Secretary – Deputy Chairman Alexey Ferapontov and the delegation of Vietnam to summarize the results of scientific visit. Furthermore, during the meeting, the parties discussed issues of safety regulation in construction of NPPs being of Vietnamese party’s interest, as well as plans of further bilateral interagency cooperation. The delegation Vietnam highly appreciated qualification of Don ITD inspectors and expressed an interest to continue the interagency cooperation on exchange of inspectorial experience in course of NPP construction.
